The Toyota Calabash Rain Catcher
- Hamish Alexander Cumming
- 10 years old, Zimbabwe, Africa
Concept
In many places in our country (Zimbabwe) water is very scarce. Children walk miles and miles with buckets to get water from wells which are often dry. I dream of a water wagon pulled by strong cows with a giant calabash pot sitting on top of a platform which captures the rain water from summer thunderstorms and stores it safely for drinking. Many taps let out water from the sides of the pot and allow people to come with their buckets, calabash mugs and cups and gather the rain water from this special dream car. Noone would be thirsty if the Calabash Rain Catcher was nearby.
